Interview Q&A

01/

What are your greatest strengths?

My greatest strengths are in my ability to be organized and punctual. Anytime that I have to be prepared for school or sports, I always make sure that I have everything I need finished before the time comes, that I have a general plan of what I am going to have to do each day, and that I am early. Having this plan allows me to be as efficient as possible. Along with this I am able to adapt to a change in plans quickly. I believe that already having a plan in mind before going into something allows me to think of situations that can happen in an instant where I'll have to change the way I have to do something or what I will be doing overall.

02/

Explain why it is important to listen to constructive criticism?

Taking constructive criticism is very important for helping you to experience different perspectives and allowing you to have an open mind. If you take the time to listen and consider what people tell you about your work, they can introduce you to more efficient or different ways of doing things that you might not have thought of doing before. They can even help you find the errors in the way you are doing something so that in the future, you are doing things correctly all of the time.

03/

What have you learned from mistakes on the job/in training or in school?

At the start of my senior year, I was doing school completely online because of the pandemic. Given this out of the ordinary situation, I began procrastinating constantly on all of my school work. Being home all of the time didn't allow me to feel the pressure of a timeline that I would normally feel at school. When we first started going back in person, I struggled with not procrastinating on my work. I almost had to re-learn how to be productive again. However, now that we are almost done with the year, I am back on track.

04/

How do you handle pressure/stress?

The first thing I do when I start to feel stress of pressured is make a plan. If I have a list of things that I have to do and when I have to do them by, I start to feel more organized. When I start to feel more organized, the stress and pressure starts to slip away. Something else that helps me is taking a break. Stepping away from my work and listening to music is a great chance for me to clear my mind and get ready to produce my best work.

05/

How would you like to be challenged by a job?

When I start working in my career, I want to be able to take everything that I have learned throughout my education and apply it to real life situations. I want to be able to think and evaluate everyday so that I can improve my reasoning skills. In order to be surpass all challenges that I come by on a daily basis, I want to put all of my skills to use.

06/

What are your pet peeves?

One of my biggest pet peeves is when I am working in a group with others and no one has a plan of how we will execute the assignment we have been given, and no one wants to make a plan. When this happens, it makes me feel stressed and like my group members don't care about what we're doing. It also bothers me when one person decides that everything they do is correct and that the opinions of others don't matter.

07/

What would your previous boss/supervisor say your strongest point is?

My previous supervisor would say that I am a good communicator and organizer. Every time that I am working in a group, I make sure to take the time to listen to my group members and take everything they say into consideration. This allows all people to feel heard, even when they are in large groups. I am also able to organize effective timelines and assignments so that I can be as productive as possible. Having these qualities allow me to make a good impression amongst others.

08/

What kind of work do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy being able to do things in a smaller group so that I have the opportunity to hear other people's opinions on what we're working on. I think that smaller groups allow for multiple ideas and building off of one another. However, on more important tasks, I like to work by myself so that I can make sure that everything is 100% correct and that there are no issues anywhere.

09/

What are your weaknesses?

My biggest weakness is worrying about what other people think about me. Sometimes these worries push me to not do things or say things because I am nervous that someone will disagree with me. I have realized that this weakness affects a lot of what I do and I am trying to not care about other's thoughts as much. Even though it's hard, it's a goal that I plan on accomplishing.

10/

What gets you up in the morning?

The thought of having my entire life in front of me, and that I am the one that gets all of the decisions is what gets me up in the morning. I really enjoy the fact that I am the only one that gets to determine my path. The idea that I can do or go wherever I want to in order to fulfill my goals, is something that inspires me to do my best everyday.
